From Sustainability to Responsibility: How the Green Gold Is Transforming the Environment

This case study was part of an in-class debate on mass tourism industry and environmental sustainability practices in today businesses.

I analyzed the relationship between the global tourism and travel industry representatives, promoting globalization and free trade, and the anti-globalization or “fair trade” movement, defending locally owned businesses, arguing for Honey’s analysis of “greenwashing” the “mass” and “ethical” tourism, Dickinson’s “slow travel” versus “fast travel,”

while I critically evaluated Henderson’s business argument for “sustainability”, Lansing and De Vries’s “marketing ploy”, Butcher’s “defense of masses”, and Rutty’s explanation of the reasons behind the “suitable economic development of tourism sector.”
